Janmashtami midnight comes fast, and nothing should be missing when it does. This is the order we dress our own Thakurji in, every year.
Before the abhishek
- Fresh cotton towel, zari should never touch a wet murti
- Panchamrit ingredients measured out in advance
The dressing order
- Dhoti first, then the angrakha or vagha over it
- Patka tied at the waist
- Mukut, seat it before the jewellery so nothing snags
- Kundal, mala and bansuri last
Keep within reach
A spare safety pin, a soft brush for the zari, and the makhan-mishri bhog. If the vagha is new, dress him once a day earlier as a trial, first-time hooks are always stiff.
Ordering new? Check the festival cut-off date on the product page; order by that date and delivery before puja day is guaranteed.
